How long is 2.8 going to remain in beta? It's been almost six months now. Does that seem crazy to anyone else? In reply to: "Skype 2.8 for Mac to launch Tuesday"

The most recent TiVo HD XL has a 1TB internal hard drive, up from 160GB. Of course I think its list price is like $300 more than its 160GB cousin. In reply to: "Give your DVR a storage boost"

This title is misleading in a way that suggests author ignorance. Gambling is one kind of addiction among many. People can be addicted to many things, for example alcohol, yet "When gamers become alcoholics" would have been a ridiculous title. "When gamers become gamblers" is equally ridiculous. A more informed title would have been "When gamers become addicts", yet of course then it's slightly more obvious that this post isn't saying anything we didn't all suspect already. " Kindle best-sellers should cost a few bucks less than what the paperback version of the book would cost."
Wrong--there's no such thing as what a product 'should' cost. Price in a free market is determined by two factors: supply and, crucially absent in this story, demand.

About a year ago I started getting text message spam. I called Verizon (my wireless provider), and they could not block particular numbers, though they did offer to delete the charges on spam I had already received. I didn't want to have to call them every time I got a spam text message, so I chose the only other way to stop it: drop the text messaging feature all together.
Now I'm unable to text message at all, which means less money for Verizon and less convenience for me. Good going, Verizon.

ZOMG!!1! Sony = Sharp now?!?!
In other words: I call false advertising. The CNET link said 'Sony', but the actual story is about Sharp. Who cares what Sharp does?
