  • "Much thanks to .... Apple itself for quickly addressing the needs of its community"

Oh come on. It was a bug, pure and simple (which I was affected by on 21.5 as apple acknowledges too) - please don't give nauseating praise to Apple for fixing it. Just cries fan-boy accusations, not professional journalism I like to expect from CNet... In reply to: "Apple fixes AirPort problems marring video playback on 27-inch iMacs"

  • I tried Ubunto, and though I am quite proficient on Windows - and have even done beta testing for Microsoft - i struggled with some relaitlvey simple tasks like installing a graphics driver. It was all terminal type script.

And much that it pains me to see everything "owned" by Google (though ok, it's open source, let's be realistic on which services will work best0, at least it will work.. and it should be usable for all. In reply to: "No thanks, Google--we've got Ubuntu"

  • Not to flog a dead cat too much, but i feel like I got totally shafted with Ultimate Extras. They promised more were coming, and then basically did nothing. And yes, i know that i bought it for the pro and home features combined, but the advertising in RTM copy was pretty misleading. I'm still waiting for the "exclusive publications" (direct quote from the OS, until they removed it in SP1) In reply to: "Some Vista users say they're getting the Ultimate shaft"

  • I'm sorry, but just seeing Robert Scoble there, right at the front, makes me wince a bit! It's just sad that society has come to this..that we all clamour for a phone to the point that we go without proper sleep and water just "because" In reply to: "iPhone 3G S hits stores Friday: Will the crowds follow?"

  • DRM or no DRM - the way i see the 'safety feature for apple's business is that the transfer of music (and the rest) from their mac/pc's by using iTunes. that's one hell of an incentive for people to be lured into the iTunes store.

Yes, Amazon has software which inserts your purcahse into iTunes, but really, i cant see that being a good enough reason to not use iTunes, even if there is a 10c or 20c difference in price/

Oh, and add that to the fact that the iTunes store is crawling itsway onto the ipods/iphones - and Genuis etc etc. The list of measures Apple has put in place before removing the DRM to counter act this isnt negligible. In reply to: "DRM-free iTunes Store to haunt Apple?"

  • It looks too sparse to me. Just bland looking. i know that sounds ridiculous, but it does to me! Perhaps a numerical pad by the keyboard would have helped ? I'm all for minimalism, but really.. just looks a bit dull. In reply to: "Quick take: Apple 17-inch MacBook Pro"

  • Apple should have released this information at the same time as they said he wasn't presenting. I can't help but feel investors were misled when told that his health was irrelevant to him attending. Jobs clearly didn't want to say anything, and I imagine the Board have probably exercised polite pressure on him as they watched the stock price and press coverage. Given that he has said himself that this is the last we'll hear from him on his health, next time we know anything is askew is when he has to resign. And that'll be a sad day.
