  • I happen to like most of the MS products and own an XBOX 360 as well, but their Live Search SUCKS! I really tried hard to use it for a while and just couldn't bear the sorry results and had to go back to Google. In reply to: "Microsoft strikes deals for Live Search"

  • I don't care if the players drop below $150 or even $100, they'd better also bring down the cost of software, I am never going to pay $25-$30 a movie. In reply to: "Sharp intros two new sub-$300 Blu-ray players"

  • If you had half a brain and weren't blinded by the halo media placed over President-elect Obama's head, you'd know he would be very lucky to accomplish even half of what he set out to do. Deleting some of these promises is merely his being realistic what he will be able to do. In reply to: "Agendas vanish from Obama's transition Web site"

  • Didn't someone from SONY, upon "defeating" HD-DVD earlier this year, predicted that by the end of 2008, Blu-Ray will have a 50% market share? That is a long pipe dream now.

I think Blu-Ray has a few hurdles to overcome before becoming "main-stream". Sony probably had hoped the difference between Blu-Ray and regular DVD would convince consumers to switch over, but what they weren't counting on is that up-converting players significantly reduced that image quality difference. True, the difference is noticeable, but hardly to the point for people to invest loads of money on it.

The bottom line is, most consumers just don't have the necessary hardware to take advantage of what Blu-Ray has to offer yet and are unwilling to pay for that upgrade. And our overall economic situation aren't helping either. In reply to: "Blu-ray market share on the decline?"

  • Perhaps it's worth mentioning MS just announced a $40 billion stock buyback plan a few weeks ago. It looks to me like they have already found a better way to spend their cash. If that wasn't Microsoft's way of saying "Adios" to Yahoo stock holders, I don't know what would be. Time to admit it, Jerry Yang and the board made a gross mistake not taking the offer. • And this comes only a few weeks after Microsoft announced their $40 billion stock buyback plan, ironically enough, it is roughly the same amount they were offering for Yahoo. I guess MS found a much better way of spending that extra cash they had. In reply to: "Yahoo falls into $12 range, Dow enters 8,000 territory"

  • Very refreshing to see an objective and unbiased review on the iPhone. I guess there still are journalists left who haven't been hypnotized by for Steve Jobs' charm yet. In reply to: "Test driving iPhone 3G (Verdict: mediocre)"
