Amazon.com Simplicity in itself. There's a little program for downloading and that's it. You pay, you download and it's yours to do with as you please. What could be simpler?....and, it always works. In reply to: "Five reasons Rhapsody really irks me"

I would never but this. The price is too high, it is too small and the requirement to use Apple headphones are all deal breakers for me. I have a Creative ZEN Nano + that is larger but still fits easily in your pocket, sounds great (I use upgraded headphones), requires no special software, uses rechargeable AAA batteries (which means I don't have to throw it away when the battery dies) and cost under $30. Only the Apple Zombies will be attracted to this. In reply to: "iPod Shuffle: The reality check"

TIVO may be superior to Cable DVR but for me the huge difference in cost isn't worth it. In reply to: "How much would you pay for a DVR?"

I pay $7 a month for my DVR with no extra charges through Time Warner. I am totally satisfied with the service. If a DVR is good for 5 years I figure that 5x12x7=$420. Now figure that there is no guarantee the DVR will last that long without problems It would have to have a full 5 year warranty. There's also the convenience of getting it through the cable company. All in all I wouldn't pay more than $300 to buy one. In reply to: "How much would you pay for a DVR?"

Personally I much prefer the Zen. I actually find it easier to use and load songs to than the iPod because I hate iTunes. I prefer drag and drop in Windows. In reply to: "I love it!"

I agree with you. I hate iTunes. It wants to do everything for you and I hate that. I want to do it my way. I own both a Creative player and the iPod. I use the Creative all the time while I haven't used my iPod in months. The Creative sounds better, has longer battery life, is easier for me to use and supports simple drag and drop without resorting to some garbage interface. In reply to: "Fails at life"

I would never invest in something that has vacuum tubes. They are fragile and expensive to replace. The idea that they somehow "improve" the sound of a stereo is a scam, a lie and is actually believed by"audiophiles" who psychosomaticly hear the difference. Double blind tests prove it's "all in your head". The only place where tubes are desirable is in guitar amplifiers where they can be overdriven to produce pleasant sounding harmonic distortion. Solid state sounds harsh and unpleasant when over driven. Personally I have a self powered Logitech 2.1 speaker system that sounds surprisingly good and cost me less than $50 (far better than anything you can get at Wal-Mart for $35). They actually rival a set of Klipsch's that I paid hundreds for and are better than anything Bose offers for the computer. They also sound better than the Bose radio/CD player I have in my kitchen. This is interesting but since it uses a standard 4/3rds sensor it will never be a truly "compact" camera ie, one that will fit in your pocket. In reply to: "Panasonic unveils first Micro Four Thirds camera"

Sony has just introduced an excellent full frame DSLR, the A900, at $3000 list that may interest you. This Panasonic is interesting if they have solved the EVF blackout problem. As far as "the little peep hole" you refer to, I much prefer viewing and composing that way as LCD's are much too small for accurately seeing everything in the scene. Also they are difficult to see in bright sun. I don't understand your last sentence as all DSLR's allow you to zoom, focus and change f stop and shutter speed without looking. The info is visible in the OVF and it was even on my old Minolta SRT 101 I used back in 1970. In reply to: "Panasonic unveils first Micro Four Thirds camera"

Any product can break
There isn't an MP3 player out there that doesn't have some duds. Rating a product low because yours broke is unfair. Did you replace it? How was their customer service? Your review is useless. This player is one of the most popular products out there and the vast majority of users are very happy with it.
