What an truly uneducated review. Normal NON HD DVD, or "SD DVD" are 480 and this player will play them beautifully at FULL screen (not stamp sized) at at double the resolution of most cheaper or older players.
Tiny screen? The average portable DVD player has been 6 to 7 inch sceen, a few 8 inches. Soem are 9 inches but low resolution. this is nine inches AND a high resolution at 400x800! ie EXCELLENT for playing normal material.

"Record something from a VHS or an HD program onto a recordable DVD and see the TRUE picture quality of this player. Its HORRIBLE. Pixelated and grainy."
Are you a moron? quality of VHS onto SD recordable (DVDr) will look "Pixelated and grainy'" on a $3000 TV played off of a top quality upscaling player!
You are seeing it grainy because this probably has a better resolution than your older player -- moron.

Remo, it is pretty clear you never touched the Heor. Your comments on iphone crack me up since a lot of us are COMING from iPhone! There is LESS lag on HERO on day to day task then on iPhone and the screen on HERO is more responsive and more accurate! In reply to: "Counterpoint: it's still Android on a slow CPU"

Totally bogus claim the sprint version is faster. There are people who have gotten their hands on the Sprint versions, which are finished final firmware, and they are, if anything slightly more sluggish. In reply to: "Coming to Sprint. New firmware update makes faster."

Yes you are a captive to fees with ring tones unless you go through some serious hacks. Essentially this is a crippled phone desinged to juice revenue from teens. Do yourself a favor and gat an original touch pro on ebay. Sprint will cover it with their TEP so you have no risk, and you get a better screen that is a touch screen, and 10x the capabilities for less money. In reply to: "I LOVE THIS PHONE!!"

This is a LOUSY phone for listening to music. All phones coming out recently, and this is a new one, have standard 3.5 mm headphone jacks. this uses a proprietary 2.5 mm from years ago.
I am surprised a the price -- that it isn't cheaper. No touch screen? (Nowadays!!) Inadequate memory to drive the included screen which is why all the include apps freeze.

run the nav on this handset it lags like crazy as does video. the hardware is not strong enough for that 400x800 screen. put the advocates at sprint though the paces first.
Sprint's pricing on this is only so that the business account buyers who will get it for $200 feel like they are getting a good discount. Just like they can get a pal pro for $50. only suckers will pay the $350.

Myles: Sprint is still on the decline. They announced the last Sprint "Iphone Killer" that would get 10% of the market,. the "Instinct," had record sales the first month about 10 months ago.. Record sales for Sprint is like "world famous in Poland."
The Pre will do well enough -- once it gets off of Sprint.
FYI people are not defecting, literaly ,and by Sprint's own admission, to Verizon every quarter becasue of iPhone, since Verizon doesn't even have iPhone. They are leaving because of the abysmal billing problems, customer service and other issues with Sprint.

@crashinto it. I have the phone. I got it Friday afternoon becasue I was invited to a Sprint event and because I have tried every sprint phone since my company pays for it anyway.
ANYONE reading my evaluation can see I do know my smartphones and put this through a thoughtful and full test.
Your comments are generalities, mine are specifics.
Look, "crashinot it" you appear to have JOINED CNET today. -- and only commented on the Pre. I smell shill. Stop adding to hype and stick with details and facts -- as I did.
