  • craigfroehle,

I disagree. You probably think a car lover should get a new car every year, too.

Now, I'll use an analogy that will put all of this in perspective. If you are a girl (woman, female) lover, should you get a new one the minute it comes out? No. Some do, some don't.

I love technology and cars. But, for me it's an art. Get the best for my pocketbook, and for what I want. One of the things I don't want is something not good. So, waiting is oftentimes the best policy.

After all, what if I love the car I have. Does keeping it make me some kind of non car lover? I don't think so. Actually, I think the people who get new cars all of the time like cars less than me.

So, there! In reply to: "My Palm Pre first-gen fears"

  • I admit that waiting after the hype is a bummer. But, if you want the best device for you, you have to consider every device on it's merits, the hype and ad campaign notwithstanding. In reply to: "Palm Pre launch details revealed this week?"

  • First, I want it to have Nextel Direct Connect capability. I don't care if the phone and data are on Nextel or Sprint, but I don't think they do the dual thing anymore.

I could go for TV reception and HDMI. But, having an SD slot may be more useful. I definitely think Bluethooth for headsets, stereo headphones and keyboards would be great.

Now to pie in the sky. How about the Skype app WITH video? What about being able to tether a laptop or PDA? In reply to: "What do you want from the next Android device?"

  • "Nothing, NOTHING, the customer did justified that response."

I was kind of with you, until you made that statement. That is ridiculous! There are plenty of things people can do to you that could justifiably provoke that kind of response. It would have to be pretty bad. Of course, I was in retail for about 4 years (selling VCRs, TVs and Computers) and I never raised a hand to anyone. I did get a little perturbed with a lawyer once.

Just think for a moment. In reply to: "Radio Shack employee charged with punching customer"

  • Well, we still live in America, even though the government has screwed up the banking and US automobile industries.

See, here in America, you don't HAVE to buy anything (well insurance we do). If you think the Kindle isn't worth it to you, don't buy it!

If a company doesn't make a profit, they go out of business (usually). Then they can't provide you with products. Profit is good. It allows us to get products and services, and allows people to work... without any direct taxpayer money. Wild, huh? In fact, the business actually PAYS taxes. What a concept!

I think the Kindle is worth the price because the product is good, and it GIVES you a wireless internet connection almost anywhere, anytime. What other product does that? I'm very happy they can somehow make a profit with that kind of business plan.

Thanks Amazon. In reply to: "Report: Kindle 2 costs $185.49 to build"

  • I'm one who likes competition from other companies than Apple. Apple does not believe in freedom, as in freedom of choice. They are always deciding what I need.

Well, I think I need a Pre. I just hope they provide a version with Nextel's Direct Connect! In reply to: "In defense of Sprint and the Palm Pre"
