I'm seeing a lot of confusing or contradictory info coming out the last few days. I'm really only concerned with Verizon in the US market. Microsoft need to make a statement with this release or market share will rapidly erode. So releasing first generation smartphones with a software upgrade won't do. That means IMO the dominant vendor, Verizon will be releasing a series of second gen phones on October 6. The initial inventories may be mostly on line, but i suspect (and this is my personal conjecture alone) the releases will include both the touch pro 2 and Diamond 2 as well as the Omnia 2. Now to clarify further, the US Verizon TP2 is a 3.6" screen. The Diamond 2 was originally a 3.2" screen but for the US market they substituted the second generation HD (Whitestone) and relabeled it the Diamond 2, so it too will have a 3.6" screen. I'm still waiting for a definitive comparison between the Omnia 2 & Diamond 2, but it seems to me the Omnia is a half generation more advanced than the Diamond. I'm confident Samsung knows they need to release the Omnia at a price point competitive with the iPhone, so I'm confident they'll do their part to support a price under $200. I hope Verizon and HTC understand the importance of pricing this properly from the get go. If this scenario unfolds, we can select from the best phone. I have my doubts, but in any event the long wait for a mature second gen smartphone is near end. i hope it was worth it. In reply to: "HTC Touch2 launching October 6 with Windows Mobile 6.5"

This is definitely a phone worth considering. Just had my hands on an HTC HD (not in US) which is the same screen size - not bad and i have small hands. I'll probably upgrade from my Moto Q to the Omnia 2 or the HTC Diamond 2 - whichever Winmo 3.2" screen or better comes out first - or wait a few months for price drops.... either way an upgrade is finally in sight. now Verizon be fair on the pricing... I can't believe the comments are about the typo. Its time to end this whole compensation largess nonsense. Its irresponsible on the part of the board and an abdication of responsibility by the SEC to allow these levels of compensation at the expense of the shareholders. NONE of these guys are worth 500K, let alone a mill or more. Its time to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH. BTW - I don't own Sprint stock nor am I a subscriber. Very disappointing that HTC appears to not be announcing more innovative products. They should be promoting the HD or 4G or successors. How 'bout an HD variant with a 3.5" screen? this is a time for bold innovation to draw attention and market share. In reply to: "HTC S743 announced for U.S. market"
