  • I'm on a family plan with my iPhone and pay only $60 a month with unlimited texting. I'm not sure where these $110 a month plans are coming from. I don't know anyone who has an iPhone who pays anywhere near that much. Also the design of the Android OS is much uglier than the iPhone's. I guess if you don't mind looking at an ugly piece of crap every day, then yeah, the Nexus might work for you. In reply to: "Nexus One is way cheaper than iPhone"

  • I'm guessing the iSlate (or whatever it's called) has handwriting recognition, but you write with your finger. No stylus needed. There will be a little bar at the bottom that pops up and you just write in cursive with your finger and it'll recognize everything super accurately. Maybe using sentence prediction technology as well as spelling prediction technology to probably get close to a 99.9% accurate sentence recognition. It'll be more like "finger writing" than "hand writing". This seems like the most efficient and easiest way to interact with this type of device, from a design perspective. There won't be a keyboard. It would be too awkward and a terrible design for the user. Might support bluetooth keyboards though. I'd also bet there's a way for the iSlate to stand up on its own so you don't have to constantly hold it. Might even have a little handle so you can carry it, like the iBook had, since it's meant to be portable but not pocketable. The handle could fold back to help prop up the device. I'm guessing a webcam will be included for video iChats. If you're reading an ebook on it and it's propped up you could wave your hand to flip to the next or previous page, then you don't even have to touch the device. I'm thinking voice recognition might be implemented into it, but will be limited to a few commands such as on the iPhone 3GS. Cocoa Touch SDK similar to the iPhone. App Store as well. It'll be all about the apps and what you can do with it. It'll be awesome. Apple doesn't disappoint. That's why they're Apple. Half technology, half design and 100% the fruit of the gods. Also, Chris is by far one of my most favorite writers online. In reply to: "Aha! It's the iGuide, not iSlate--maybe"

  • Hopefully they still tour. They're my favoritest band and I haven't been able to see them live yet. It's kind of a life goal of mine. In reply to: "Radiohead declares it's done with recording albums"

  • This device definitely needs more ram. I can't listen to music and use Safari without it crashing. Also, Apple is going to be adding more background services to the OS (like the push alerts) and that's going to require more resources for it to run properly. Also Safari can take a really long time sometimes to render basic web pages, so more ram and a faster processor would be very much welcome. This will also improve its capacity for applications and games. In reply to: "New iPhone could go on sale July 17"

  • Actually I can type waaaaay faster on the iPhone than any Blackberry like device. Because I don't actually have to press any keys down, I just make a quick tap, and the letter is typed. My fingers fly across the screen like a blur when I'm typing, and with the auto correct feature, I get close to 99% accurate. I've typed out super long e-mails, and facebook comments, and take notes, and sent texts, and never had any problem with it. In reply to: "New iPhone could go on sale July 17"
