  • It would be interesting to see the reactions if there were a video game about figure drawing and the like. Most people understand there will be nudity in figure drawing, and I reckon it would be viewed as tasteless, or sexist, despite the context. Human beings like to be opinionated. This also is what separates us from other animals in the animal kingdom In reply to: "Just how sexist is nudity in gaming?"

  • I really like to see my real-life "fantasies" played out in games, like cooking, word play, shooting down enemy pilots from my howitzer, filling an alien/mutant/zombie/buddy with lead and waiting for the next spawn, taking a sign post and shoving it in my neighbor's head, trying to save the princess all the while getting lesions on my hands, etc...

Personally, I think the new ideas people are seeking after will primarily happen if we have teens and adolescents pitching ideas. In reply to: "What I want to see at GDC"

  • Don,

You have revealed to the world the reason why the Wii is not taken seriously as the PC, 360, and PS3. Sure, people may argue that the Wii's hardware is no where near the Higher Def consoles, but the fact of the matter is that people are buying the Wii, as well as other consoles and thus there is a competition between all 3 main companies (Micro, Sony, Nintendo) when it comes to where I as a consumer will put my hard-earned income in this recession. The president of Nintendo of America said it best (paraphrasing) Third Party support will "Get It" when they have their best content on the console. Only when their BEST content is on there will there be better games on the Wii. Then we will get better quality games. Simple as that. It has taken a long time getting to the 2009 lineup; there are a lot of publishers and producers who are putting their best content on the Wii, while, sadly, it will take a lot more to get everyone to understand what "their best content" means.

Don, I hope you will stay with the Wii for this 2009 Calendar year; there are SO many great titles that are coming out and many, many, many in development. I can't wait for 2010 and 2011! In reply to: "Why I gave up the Wii"

  • I am really impressed with this nice piece of technology. The free market amazes me; when something truly revolutionary like the Wii and Wii Remote (Seriously people, is it too difficult to say "Remote"? Why Wiimote? are we stuck in the first grade? Is it too much effort to pronounce 3 syllables?) comes to the market and demonstrates current technology (= old dogs) being used in different ways (=l earning new tricks), new ideas and improvements surface to propel the new technology forward in revolutionary ways; just look at Blu-ray and DVD formats. Nintendo said their next generation console would be revolutionary, and we can already see that people are joining that revolution. I believe that the next generation of consoles will all be about motion sensing and probably total body movement tracking. In reply to: "Sixense remote improves on Wiimote game plan"
