Wrong! Try doing a clean install (as recommended) from the Family Pack Upgrade. Windows 7 installs fine and then gives an "Invalid Product ID" error. Microsoft will never learn. I decided that my new dual-core 3 Ghz Windows XP Pro system was running just fine. I don't need the headache. Returned the Family Pack. Had to get a little pushy to get my money back. but I'm tired of the BS. I understand protecting your software from piracy.....so long as you do not inconvenience legitimate users....which MS still has not learned. So, they didn't get my upgrade money. ;-) In reply to: "Students find problems with Windows 7 upgrade"

Good luck getting retailers to adopt it. I have worked with retailers for over 25 years, large & small. When the U.S. adopted the 13 digit bar code in 2005 because the old UPC's were running out of numbers (like zip codes & area codes), the majority did not upgrade their pos systems. Most still can not support the new bar codes. And, PCI compliant, forget it. I would NOT hand my credit card to a small retailer UNLESS it was scanned into a dedicated credit card device.....never into their PCs.

As a software developer, I too am quite familiar with copyright law. Which, in this case, is a totally meaningless statement. Unless you are an attorney intimately familiar with THIS case. Then no statement found on this blog is worth one cent. Period.
If this matter were cut and dry simple, then the Jackson Brown -vs- John McCain case would have been settled already by the courts.

The new design is proof that Apple has lost it's way without Steve Jobs!
Removing the buttons from the player itself was just plain stupid. Apple is is the same camp as Microsoft now. Rather than improve a wildly successful product (XP) Microsoft replaces it with a dud, Vista, and Vista Redux (Win7). Rather than increase the current version of the Shuffle to 4 gig and add a tiny screen, Apple introduces a new, poorly conceived design!
My prediction, Apple revenue and stock price takes a dive soon.

A whole lot of 32 bit apps that will no longer run.

Agreed. Win 7 is better than Vista. But, is it better than XP? No, it is not for most people. And, therefore Microsoft is going to be in the same boat next year.......tons of XP users still using XP. They will have the benefit on not having so many angry Vista users however. But, most people will balk at upgrading without a compelling reason to do so.....and thus far, there is not one. @DrtyDogg: You can pin an app to the Start Menu, but you can not pin an app to the taskbar in XP. Any application that needs to run in 'full screen' video mode will not run on Vista or Win 7. Mine happens to be a point of sale application, but there are lots more as well that Vista and Vista II the sequel puke on. In reply to: "Microsoft wants to 'rescue' apps for Windows 7"

>> I didn't realize what XP was lacking until I tried 7.
Touli, what is XP lacking exactly that Win 7 improves?. I can find no improvements except for the ability to pin an app to the taskbar. That is not worth the pain of an O/S upgrade. Certainly it is not worth buying a new system. Like Vista, it will not run "full screen" apps and it gives the same BS message. So, where's the benefits? The more I use it, the less I like it.

Agreed......including Vista Redux (Win7).
Initially, I thought Win 7 had promise. However, the more I work with it, the more Vista like it has become. And, I'm getting sick of it already. The only think that I still like is pinning apps to the task bar.....like OSX. I hate the constant barriers being thrown up every time I try to update applications. Even with the UAC turned completely off, it still nags about access rights & privileges.
