No, LS, not a steal. You can get a MacBook for just over $800. That's a steal. In reply to: "Leaked HP, Toshiba 'Core i3' laptops not pricey"

Interesting.... Sounds like they are a little paranoid about losing customers. Almost as is if they advertised themselves as being better than the competition when they clearly aren't. Good thing about capitalism is companies like this will eventually lose. It might take a little while... but consumers will always navigate to the company that is the lesser of two evils. 2007 was the year certain educators were pushing for including Ebonics in Social Sciences and Linguistic curricula. Perhaps Apple was preparing for a shift in popular American language.... maybe a site geared toward timing menstrual cycles? Who knows. In reply to: "Apple owns iSlate.com--the mystery deepens"

Renegade Knight,
"dumbed down" compared to 7? Really? Intuitive? Yes.. dumbed down.. not really. Does Visa have the equivalent to System Profiler? Network Utility? Disk Utility? Raid Utility? Keychain Access?
I think you are confusing inefficient for "complex". Windows is clumsy because it has poor organization. Utilities are spread all over the place... there is no continuity. Sort of like going to a grocery store to look for.. lets say.. raisins. You expect to find the raisins in the produce section... or maybe even the dry goods/cereal section...... if the store was designed by Apple, it would put the raisins in either or both of those isles.... If Microsoft designed the store it would put the raisins in the frozen meat section.

Evan
the data plan is $30. The base plan (700 minutes w/rollover, free nights, free mobile to mobile, and free weekends) is around $50. I get a discount through work... My plan is $75 per month for my iPhone plus an additional line (wife's Nokia). It's about the same on t-mobile and other carriers.

Knight. I don't know.. I seem to be able to do a lot of things with my iPhone.
For work.. I can use the built-in VPN software to get into our network. From there I can use WinAdmin to remote into multiple workstations using their native screen resolution. Exchange also works very well... my calendars, contacts, and email synch without problems.
At home I use my phone as a remote for my iMac (it hosts my movies and music)... a few games.... astronomy stuff... things like that.
When im on the go apps like AroundMe have saved my butt many times.
Access to local real-time traffic cameras has also come in handy.
There are just too many things to mention.
As I said, android and WebOS are great too... I, and many... many other people, don't like the package they come in.
Surprisingly, I prefer the flexibility that comes with a virtual keyboard (landscape, portrait, and shortcuts). I never thought I would appreciate a virtual keyboard.. but after using one for a while, you begin to realize how flexible they actually are.
sanenazok, I see what you are saying.. but my comment referred to the timing of this lawsuit.
