They could have been the leaders (pPhone?) but bad timing, bad leadership, poor innovation, and lack of support (via updates) put them in the spot they're in.
Whilst the world was moving toward the next generation of smarthones and Apple was secretly in development with the iPhone, what was Palm doing? Developing a netbook -- the Foleo. Somewhere down the line they forgot that they were a trusted device/smartphone company first. Why were they tinkering with a new product when they were losing valuable time on their next-gen smartphone and had the market saturated with their good product name (at the time) and made a fairly innovative product?
They blew it and I have no sympathy for them whatsoever being a former Palm user for years. And, yes, I have an iPhone now not because I bow to the Apple logo but because I like innovation. Sorry, Palm. In reply to: "Palm's losses decline for second quarter"January 5, 2010

How stupid are people today that they need 'common sense' lists like these.
C'mon, if you're a parent and half-a-brain, you already know what to buy and what not to buy your little ones. Perhaps they'll come out with another 'common sense' list of s**t you shouldn't let kids play with like glass shards, rusty nails.... No headphones for kids!!! Does the author even have kids?
My 5-yo has an ipod touch for a couple of her favorite coloring and puzzle games but only listens to it and a couple of cartoons through the speakers. Plus, I don't want her 'tuning out'. A lot of kids do and it's a shame. In reply to: "Kid-friendly headphones"December 2, 2009
