I'm glad to see that Slacker is getting stronger by adding even more innovative services. Yahoo is canceling its radio service option, which never made it beyond the computer.
Way to go, Slacker! Love streaming my tunes on my Berry!

All I can say is...the laptop that I bought in '08 with Vista 64-bit pre-installed had better be Windows 7-ready. :) In reply to: "Why Windows 7 will hit store shelves in 2009"

Disgusting FBI Tactics
I can't say much more than has already been reported in the story and said in other comments. I agree that child abuse and child porn is a sad thing. But, these FBI tactics are truly disgusting, and I am ashamed of the U.S. Government because of this. Absolutely sick. Talk about turning America into a police state.

lawsuit
He'd probably get sued to say the least. I'm sure the argument against him would've been something along the lines of "the material was official military business intended for another party." And, he never "legally" received the e-mails. He accidentally received the e-mails.

Cable providers have to upgrade anyway...
...otherwise, the future of Internet media (HBO, movies, TV shows, etc, etc, etc) -- all of which is mentioned weekly in the Press -- will never get off the ground. Once the everyday-Joe becomes accustomed to watching their favorite TV programs and movies via the Internet, you and your cable provider will have MUCH bigger problems than what you're experiencing today. Unfortunately, you blame everything on a few neighborhood kids, too. No offense, but 98% of people out there don't know what defragging a hard drive is much less basic networking.
This fight against Bit torrent technology has nothing to do with bandwidth. It's a conservative scheme using illegal tactics to support big Money.

You're kidding, right?
If Microsoft had purchased Yahoo, it would've been guaranteed that many people at Yahoo would've lost their jobs -- probably far more than 1,100. No one at Yahoo can feel safe yet, either. If Yahoo decides to abandon its own business goals and lets a pig, like Microsoft, in to run the show, there will be even more layoffs at Yahoo.

>>>Linux has a way to go before it has the everyday feel and user-friendliness that windows and mac users are accustomed to.>>>
I hope that Linux does eventually get there, though. Every PC I've owned has had a version of Windows on it, and I use OpenOffice, Firefox, etc whenever I can. But, I would love to see the Linux OS be installed as easily as Windows -- the sooner the better. If installation and usability were acceptable for a 'regular user' like me, I'd be using it immediately.

personal use rather than enterprise
Does this decision mean that Ubuntu developers only have their sights on the consumer market rather than the enterprise market? Is this part of the long-term strategy for the Ubuntu team?

Yahoo is still expensive
I've been using IX Web Hosting over a year, now. They've been offering unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth longer than Yahoo, and for less money.
