  • Looks to be pretty niffy. The software has stepped up with the interface, and especially since iTunes 8 has acquired some of those Library features from WMP, it's good to see they're stepping up.

Can you download movies btw? Too lazy to watch the whole thing... :D In reply to: "Zune 3.0 software sneak peek"

  • Finally! Thank you cnet!

(My Windows sound recorder could actually receive the sounds made by the pc, not just from the mic. But this is pretty niffy too.) In reply to: "Ripping audio from concert DVDs: Ask the Editors"

  • iPod nano clone not crossing the next-gen of PMPs?
Great, there's a e200 succesor that's slowly catching up to the iPod nano, and I don't just mean thickness. Colours are nice, though the blue ring isn't doing any favours for the non-monochromic colours, giving them a sorta cheap feel. (When has that ever hurt SanDisk?) Apple and Creative can pull off better colours IMO, but is that the point? I'm still a bit disappointed that the Sansa Connect's the only SanDisk player so far to grasp one of the many emerging next-generation PMP features. Yes, the Sansa View is a 32GB flash, but navigation is a bore & chore. Same goes with the rest of SanDisk's PMP line. They're still awesome with the budget babies. Them m200s' still flyin' off the shelves in Amazon! They never seem to run out of those obselette things! In reply to: "'Sansa Fuze' is leaked--again"

  • But there's one big thing that the P2's missing. Online Wi-Fi access. You get to watch YouTube videos. Besides, it's 8.7, not 9.7... give Don a break. In reply to: "Why CNET raised the iPod Touch score"

  • Finally...
I thought they merged the PRODUCT(RED) and pink iPod nanos! Those brats must've been turned off by the more contempoary wintery colours of "turquoise and jade", as described by Jasmine. I bet the iPod nano would eventually release a 16GB/32GB black model to keep up with tradition. In reply to: "Nano goes pink for Valentine's Day"

  • Owch. That's a not-so-regrettable mistake. And I heard that the iriver Lplayer or the SPINN could be making an American arrival.

Anyway, I reluctantly stand by the choice... Looking back at the past 'Best of CES' winners, including three Creative players that weren't exactly the best of their class (Zen Portable Media Center, 1st Microsoft PMC, ZEN MicroPhoto, ZEN Vision:M), though I'm from Singapore so woohoo, and a Sansa with its overhyped online radio/channels... turns out it wasn't that much of a trend.

So you can't really pick the winner of that award as the best of the previous year, but more like a "Best Example of a Potential Pioneer for Upcoming Players". But the only real 'pioneer' is the Zen PMC, since it was the 1st PMC, and one of those pre-iPod video PMPs. In reply to: "iRiver W7 MP3 player hankers for directions"

  • Well, so only 3 manufacturers had stuff to feature. No wonder it was that underwhelming... Glad Philips has finally bounced towards 2008 with Bluetooth, and I can finally say that I give respect to the W7. It's just that I saw this player, or something like it, a whole year ago, but since it's the only iriver player heading for the States, a place where no one had really heard of cling-on, cling-off GPS/PMPs, that's a great choice. Thanks a lot guys, and keep up the work. In reply to: "CES 2008: MP3 and PVP wrap-up"

  • Wow, that certainly was a quick reply from the both of you. I assumed you would be stressed out from CES or something.

I'd like to apologize, once again, for the tirade I've caused in my nearly-fanatical email a few days ago. It certainly is disappointing, this year's DAP/PMP turnout at CES (I mean, iriver was, like, that event's Apple!), and I hope you'll point that out during your next podcast. I'm sure there's a whole load of peeps like me who are confused, or even frustrated, on the iriver W7 being selected as the Best of CES, and they want to know why. And I'm sorry for listing other better players as I didn't know they weren't presented on that event. So thanks for explaining how the Best of CES awards were selected, and thanks to Don for giving an efforted explanation on his Editor's Top Players list. I do hope you'd change it, including those obselette players, once the reviews on the newer players are done. In reply to: "iRiver W7 MP3 player hankers for directions"

  • While everyone else may gripe and moan about some missing feature that another player would have... I'll say this Cowon A series has leapfrogged to 2008... in a different fashion. Yes, there's no WiFi, Bluetooth, touchscreen, and stuff, but with what seems like an infinity of file formats that is seemingly unprecedented (check out "Comparison of portable media players" on Wikipedia and you know what I mean) and a 800px resolution... But still... enough with Cowon calling its players "Premium" or "Extreme" and selling it for a huge price. Even Archos learnt its lesson.

And I had hoped the A3'd have stayed being completely black... In reply to: "First take: Cowon A3"
