  • cbscowards - You are certainly correct but another point of fact is that Apple has a choke-hold on the portable media player market. The tie-in between the iPod and iTunes is an exact replica of Microsoft's tie-in with Windows and IE.

The iPod and iTunes dominates that sector without question. So how long will it be fore the EC does the same thing to Apple? I think it depends on if any of Apple's competitors complains! In reply to: "EU resolves Microsoft IE antitrust case"

  • I totally agree with your "sometimes DUMB" point because I live in Arlington and sometimes take trips via I-66 and encounter the same problem with my Maestro 4350. While it is a somewhat smart feature Magellan should allow users to turn that feature off because it can be incredibly annoying particularly when getting off only to get right back on causes you to reduce speed thus impacting fuel usage and time. • Well I switched to Zune when the Second gen launched and have only had one problem and it was resolved quickly. As fo the software; its never been a problem and has always performed well. If you are having problems im betting there are issues with your system that you need to resolve. I'm very happy with Zune Marketplace and the Zune Pass and likely won't drop my subscription. • Yeah I have to disagree with you there. I currently have an HP Presario dv900. Got it when Vista came out, just a month after my Dell suffered a failure because I spilled coffee on it. But that Dell gave me all sorts of problems but not hardware related. My problmes were related to Dell's in-house software.

My HP has been a rock solid PC and I have no complaints with HPs in-house programs other than one or two programs tend to take forever to load. But this has been the most reliable PC I have ever had. In reply to: "Who makes the most reliable laptops?"

  • There is no way in the world I'll get rid of my original CDs. I can totally see my hard drive crashing or some of ther disaster taking out my PC so I'd never get rid of my originals, however, I did remove them all from their cases and placed them in soft cases thus taking up a lot less room. • humanssssss - Ummmm.......Google Docs is not by any stretch of the imagination ubiquitous. The fact that it is availalbe means nothing if its not being used to the degree that Office is. If I remember correctly, MS is currently testing is online version of Office and if they include it with future purchases of Office for the Desktop they will have a big headstart over Google.

Google might call that anti-competitive but I think MS could easily argue that its a natural evolution of Office in a competitive market different from the inclusion of IE in Windows. In reply to: "Google says Docs to catch up to Office next year"

  • Well ya know Miles, it would be easily said that iTunes copies Windows Media Player, Real Player and others. The only thing Apple really did was to make purchases available through the software and added a dedicated device and that was the decision that made the iTunes-iPod ecysystem a success.
