  • I think I'd like to get one so I can sell it off and make a couple of bucks so I can buy something else... seeing as I've already got a decent MP3 player. In reply to: "Crave giveaway of the day: Apple iPod Nano"

  • Most likely I will probably get this, as well as the original DSi... just because I've owned every nintendo system and I don't want to break tradition now...

But that's beside the point... This I see could go both ways for us fans of the DS, since many like the portability of the system and are able to be pocket friendly to some, but normally I see people putting them in a bag or backpack or some sort of thing like that instead; which lessens the portability factor, because despite the fact that it may be larger, it is still more portable than a laptop or whatever.

I do like the screen real estate now, because some games will just look so much better because of it. If anyone has heard of this game, Ninokuni: The Another World will just look awesome. In reply to: "DSi LL: Nintendo supersizes its gaming handheld"

  • That would not fare so well... Most people still want the feel of buttons... Despite the fact that it may be "old" according to some, buttons are a necessity in gaming. Now there may be people out there who will argue this, for example the games that have almost no button interaction at all, or those who are iPhone gamers. Most likely these two types of games are casual games, where one can play them for a brief period of time while they have a break or something to kill 15 minutes or so with.

But in the elimination of physical buttons, this can prove difficult, since with them on screen in sacrifice for screen size, the user must memorize the location of the buttons, and without any physical object, it may be difficult at first to get used to. And either way then, the screen size would become limited because of the sides set off for those buttons, so in reality the entire screen being touch would be reduced to perhaps 2/3 of that due to the touch buttons.

It does not help also that new hardware and interaction with the games would have to be created, and probably most people wouldn't want to switch from a functioning DS lite or DSi with support from many add-ons, for sacrifice of a bigger screen. • Nice... I could use one of these since even though I have a really nice messenger bag that holds my laptop and mouse, I don't want to tear it up and have it ruined by the end of this year...

These would also make great gifts too. In reply to: "Crave giveaway of the week: Ecogear laptop bags"

  • Getting rid of books!? That's a sin! (Well, it depends on what kind of books...) If you are talking about literary classics and not keeping them, they better be donated to a library or something.

I'm just far too materialistic to get rid of some stuff, books, CDs, DVDs, etc. Which is perhaps a sort of hindrance financially, but oh well. In reply to: "My so-called paperless life"

  • Hmm... I don't think the iPhone could kill the DS. Cut into it's market share, yes. But not kill.

For the casual gamer, it makes a ton of difference for quick puzzle games and what not, but for someone who can sit and play for an hour or more, an actual handheld gaming device should be preferred. Screen real estate can be one thing, but the combined screens of the DS are equal to or larger than the iPhone. The gaming library for the DS is huge, but they are catered to different gamers.

I am a Nintendo fan, but I fully acknowledge the rising power of the iPhone. There are novelties, especially with the accelerometer for certain games, but overall, I believe that a handheld gaming device should stay a handheld gaming device and really nothing more. Unless they can keep the same quality of games as well as extra stuff. In reply to: "The five best Nintendo DS games for iPhone"

  • There are many RPGs in existence for the DS, you just have to look around. I have a couple suggestions if you're the import type, and doesn't really care all that much in it being in a different language. If you solely want to stick to English Games, then I can't do much, but Japan imports I can. In reply to: "Are gaming handhelds too expensive?"
