I really hope they release a CDMA version and put it on Verizon, because that's the only way I'll ever be able to use one... In reply to: "BlackBerry Bold gets official release date, pricing"

Re: PS3 price drop unit capabilities
You're not being 100% accurate. The 40 GB PS3 has no PS2 backward compatibility, but it will still play PS1 games. Weird, huh?

The iPod Touch would be a waste for me, so...
My music collection is already at 17.5 GB; as it is, I have a few hundred megabytes to spare on my 4th-gen 20 GB iPod. The Touch looks cool, and the lack of a 2-year phone service commitment with AT&T is alluring, but the device simply doesn?t make sense for me. I?m going to pick up an 80 GB iPod Classic because my current iPod is on the fritz, but if I had $400 to blow, I?d buy an Xbox 360 ? it would look pretty nice alongside my PS3!

I'd assume it's happening worldwide...
They said they're recalling 3.2 million straps. Nintendo surpassed the 1 million-sold mark with the console just last week. So even if everybody who bought the console bought an extra Wiimote, that still may not add up to 3.2 million. So yeah, it must be everywhere.

conspicuous consumption at its finest
Jeez...stories like this anger me even more than the thought of a thousand SUVs, all getting 15 miles to the gallon. This $44,000 MP3 player exemplifies the growing trend in modern culture: buying expensive and essentially useless things just to be able to say, ?I?ve got one and you don?t.? The people who would buy this piece of junk are the same people who blow $60,000 on a gas-guzzling, tricked-out Hummer that they use to drive their spoiled kids to school. Let me give you some numbers to illustrate my point:
Presidential MP3 Player vs. iPod Nano
Size Ratio - 0.99 in³ : 1.512 in³
Capacity Ratio - 1 GB : 4 GB
Price Ratio - $44,000/$249 ~ 176 : 1
So, to summarize: the Presidential MP3 player?s size is about 65% of an iPod Nano?s size; it can only hold 25% as much music as an iPod Nano can; yet its price is an astonishing 17,600% higher than an iPod Nano?s price! Shall I rephrase? You?re getting one fourth of the storage capacity at a hundred and seventy-six times the cost! But I suppose that if this MP3 player?s price wasn?t equivalent to half of your annual income, you wouldn?t care about the features...just as long as the thing comes in white or yellow gold and is encrusted with diamonds, of course.
