Comments on: Hands on with the LG Renoir

We take a quick look at the LG Renoir, a Europe-only phone with a whopping 8-megapixel camera. It has great optics andseveral interesting features not found in standalone cameras.

The Pixon is a Samsung phone. The Renoir is LG. Both are 8MP phones, but they're not the same thing.

I was very excited about this camera phone until I saw this review.

Despite its great specs, I am appalled at how horrible this camera actually is. After all, isn't that supposed to be one of the major selling factors of this phone?

Sure is. But here is another disappointment: The browser is a dud: zooming to a certain area of the page is a hit-or-miss exercise - mainly miss, because the zooming also involves automatic and involuntary panning! Oh boy, by the time you manage to catch what you wanted to see, you're ready to throw the phone against the wall! Even those who don't have the iPhone browsing experience will be disgusted by this one. The Renoir is more a toy than a usable phone - and some even label it a "Smartphone" even though there is no operating system in it.
I returned mine after a few disappointing days.

CNET's team of reporters and reviewers will be at the show, covering technology's heavy hitters and previewing thousands of products before they are released to the public.

Each year, CNET, in partnership with the Consumer Electronics Association, produces the Best of CES awards at the International Consumer Electronics Show. The CNET editorial team recognizes the best new products at the show with awards in 10 categories, an overall Best of Show award, and the People's Voice award, which is selected by CNET's online audience.
