Comments on: Panasonic SC-ZT1: Wireless, ultraslim speaker system

Panasonic's SC-ZT1 is a wireless home theater system, that features four superslim speakers that create a virtual 7.1 surround sound effect.

OMG, this is not wireless at all. Every surround sound system that uses wires only needs one set of wires. For 99.9% of wired systems it's speaker wires. All they've done is replace speaker wires with power wires.

This is pretty dumb imo. So, it's better to be running 120V wires all over your living room instead of low voltage speaker wires? I don't think so. And what are the odds of having an electrical outlet near every place you want to position a speaker? I'd say slim to none. So, are we going to start using 120V extension cords to connect their "wireless" speakers? That's about the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
To top it all off, there's no subwoofer and no centre channel. I'm fine with 5.1 surround, as I think 7.1 may be going too far (what's next, 10.1?). Reminds me of all the disposable razer companies putting 6 blades in their razers. However, going back a step to 4 channes (quad) is so two decades ago.

I don't see anything this system has to offer at all. How about telling us it's under $200? Actually, never mind. I wouldn't even pay that for it.

I just did a quick memory check of my living room and yes, I have outlets at each speaker location. IMO this system isn't meant to replace a theater room, it's for those of us who are willing to sacrifice a bit of function for form. They look great and if they sound decent I am happy plugging them in rather than running wires in an otherwise unmolested living room.

So you'd rather recharge your speaker batteries every four hours? I'd much rather have them plugged into the wall!

I don't understand the people griping about speaker power cables. Most everybody will have more than one AC outlet in the living room, and good chances there's a power outlet somewhere near to desired speaker location. Much easier than running speaker wires from one location all across the rooms.
The Panasonic sounds great, provided it has sufficient inputs, sound good, and price is in mid three figures (although that's probably wishful thinking ....)

When is this coming onto the market? I've been waiting for this since the CES announcement. Any speculation re: price?
