Thanks for this scoop on the Canon VIXIA line! I'll look forward to more complete info, but I'm glad they've put in a bigger CCD. I'll be curious to learn how it handles low light conditions in comparison to it's smaller siblings.

The picture of the HF-S10 does not clearly show wether there is an optical viewfinder or not.
It looks as if there is one, but it is not sure.

I like to hold camera's in the old fashion way... steady with both hands , looking somehow as "through the lens". Pro cameras are equipped with a viewer. Since I suppose this camcorder aims to be a higher-end product , I hope there is a viewer ?

What surprises me is that the tape camcorders are fading out, while experienced video users and professionals still are not enthousiastic about those AVCHD camcorders.

There is no viewfinder on any of the new HF S Canon models.
