Samsung has introduced four new cameras in its NV line, all of which have optical image stabilization.

The Samsung NV7 already had mechanical stabilization when it was introduced in 2006. I wonder why they made the switch from mechanical to optical for the rest of the line? And is that correct, a 24-mm equivalent wide angle?

I'm not sure why they made the switch to optical IS, though some people prefer it to sensor-shift, so maybe they have some customer research that indicated a preference for optical IS for their users? On the lens, yes that is correct.

Ok, I'm drooling allready...
I just hope that the (otherwize brilliant) engineers at Samsung figured out how to solve the image quality issues with the earlier NV models (ie nonstabilized with lousy high iso performance = limited options), they have great lenses and electronics to work with so it shouldn't be that hard....
