If it is taking this long to roll this product off the production line they MUST be having all types of problems with this unit. I'm ready to throw in the towel and settle for the Toshiba DVR. It has very positive reviews AND IT IS AVAILABLE!!
I don't think this unit will ever hit the streets. It is well over a year now and still nothing! ANYONE HEAR DIFFERENT??

I am familiar with Dish and EchoStar's equipment.
This 'DTVPal DVR' should be released anytime. I know it is available for pre-order now.
I think $299 is a decent price, considering this device includes 2 tuners for dual recording, watching live TV and recording simultaneously, or maybe even PIP? The EPG will be nice, and the DishPASS(scheduling recordings based on name and frequency) is always a great feature, which I'm assuming will be included here.
I'm almost positive there will not be a monthly charge. I have heard about one price for purchase and that's it.
"Monthly fees are a part of EchoStar's DNA. I doubt this will be any different."
---This isn't a receiver for monthly television service. This is an OTA converter box including a nice hard drive and EPG. If EchoStar were going to charge monthly for the equipment, I'm sure there would be a lease option.
OK, this device will not be coming to market as described. It has been sucked up by Dish Network. The price from them is pretty good but it appears the epg is theirs and requires a subscription, also QAM and OTA are gone.

- I like TR-50 because it doesn't need cable. How can I buy it? and how much?
