LAS VEGAS -- The Revolv Smart Home Solution is about to get a whole lot easier to get your hands on. Using CES 2014 as a stage, the company announced a brick-and-mortar and retail partnership with Home Depot.
When we reviewed the Revolv device earlier this year, we loved its potential to be your everything in terms of home automation control. If you've been automating your house, no doubt you're familiar with the clumsiness that accompanies owning smart products from different manufacturers, each with its own control hub and app.
To solve that problem, Revolv supports dozens of smart devices using Wi-Fi, the Insteon network, or Z-Wave. The company is on track to support ZigBee connections as well in the near future. For the present, however, Revolv seems focused on distribution. Partnership with The Home Depot is an excellent start. Stocking shelves with Revolv provides a center stage in the home improvement giant's automation section. This serves to give the hub lots of exposure and provides consumers with easy access to not only Revolv, but its supported devices as well.
The duo is still working out the details, but Revolv expects that sales will begin in select US Home Depot stores at the end of January. Currently, you can buy the Revolv hub for $299. We're not sure if or how this partnership will affect pricing, but we'll keep you posted as we learn more.
