LAS VEGAS--Netgear's NeoTV player's feature list just went up a notch today.
Netgear announced at CES 2013 that it has added Sling Media's SlingPlayer to its line of NeoTV players: the NeoTV (NTV300), NeoTV Pro (NTV300S), the NeoTV Max (NTV300SL), and the just-announced NeoTV Prime with Google TV (GTV100).
The addition of the SlingPlayer means that now those with a Slingbox can use the NeoTV as a set-top box for streaming live TV shows, sporting events, recorded programming, and even movies on any TV via the Internet. It also means you can extend TV viewing to a TV that's currently connected to a NeoTV player without any additional cost.
In addition to the SlingPlayer, Netgear has added TuneIn Radio and ShopNBC to a long list of existing NeoTV streaming channels, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu, Pandora, Rhapsody, and YouTube.
The NeoTV Streaming Player is a simple-to-use device that supports full 1080p HD and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Certain players, such as the NeoTV Pro (NTV300S), also offer Intel Wireless Display, enabling consumers to wirelessly display their WiDi-enabled laptop screens on their TVs. NeoTV players can also play personal media files from USB-connected storage devices and DLNA media servers.
Netgear NeoTV Streaming Players are available now with prices ranging from $50 to $79, depending on the model.
